How does your design process work?

Choose from our two co-creative design processes offered for our partnerships:

  2. PRE-DEVELOPED STYLES – we have 20+ existing in-house styles and colors available for custom printing/dyeing/or embroidery, adding in your creative touch to make it uniquely yours. All garments are preshrunk.

We welcome designers and brands, both big and small. For each design process, we have solutions to help guide and support you:

  2. PRE-DEVELOPED STYLES – We have 20+ existing core MetaWear styles available to customize with your choice of dying and printing. If this is your first collection, we recommend starting here as it is as simple as picking and creating, giving you the ability to move quickly on starting your brand.

SAMPLING & PRODUCTION PROCESS

How can I receive a quote?

Our main production location is in Head to “BUILD YOUR QUOTE” located on our website to submit a brief questionnaire describing the details of your collection. Our Sales Manager will then be in touch with you to provide costing and further ordering information.

What are your standard leadtimes?

Bulk production lead time: 60-90 days to transit +12-14 days AIR (*upcharge incurred) or +30 days by boat from order approval

Bulk production lead time USA printed tees: 3-4 weeks from order approval

Sampling: pre-existing style samples available in our showroom can be delivered as quickly as 1-2 weeks. Custom sampling  lead time can vary depending on fabrication and ranges from 3-6 weeks.

How can I order samples?

Once a bulk quote is passed along and approved, we can then dive into next steps on sampling either pre-existing styles or custom designs produced in preparation for the bulk order.

What is your charge for samples?

If you proceed with a bulk order, the sample is free of charge. If you do not proceed with the bulk order, the sample is charged back to you. For a “test run” sample order exceeding 1-2 pieces, charges are quoted at that time and often are an estimated cost of 2X the bulk price as they are produced in a sampling room, unless they reach MOQ volumes.

What are your MOQs?

MOQs begin at 300 units per style/color for organic cotton knits, final MOQs will be quoted on a per order basis.

If I can't meet these MOQs, do you have alternative options?

For orders under 300 units, if the desired fabric is 100% Organic Cotton Knit Tees, we can work from our in stock USA blanks or discuss alternative solutions to help support a smaller scale program.

If I don't see the fabric I am seeking on your website, can MetaWear source what I need?

MetaWear has a team on the ground in India that follows the pulse of industry innovations to help support sustainable fabric development and other sourcing requests to best support our partnerships needs. As long as the program bulk volume is within the necessary ordering requirements, we can pursue a collective R&D process to achieve the desired characteristics.

SUSTAINABILITY & CERTIFICATIONS

What is GOTS?

The Global Organic Textile Standard is the premiere worldwide textile processing standard for organic fibers and is backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain, from farm to finished product. All operators must have an environmental policy including target goals and procedures to minimize waste and discharges. Raw materials, intermediates, final textile products, as well as accessories must meet stringent limits regarding unwanted residues. Minimum social criteria based on the key norms of the International Labor Organisation (ILO) must be met by all processors and manufacturers. These include: employment being freely chosen, safe and hygienic working conditions, no child labor, and payment of a living wage. Discharge printing methods using aromatic solvents and plastisol printing methods using phthalates and PVC are prohibited.

What kind of dyes & inks do you use?

MetaWear is committed to using low impact dyes that are free of any harmful chemicals and are compliant to the Global Organic Textile Standard. These dyes are free of chlorine bleach, acetone, formaldehyde, and heavy metals and have less than 5% runoff compared to conventional dyes, which can run off 55-60% into our environment. Our inks are water based, allergenic-free and non-toxic to help protect your skin (the largest organ in the body) and our planet.

What packaging is used?

Our manufacturing facilities are all GOTS compliant and only use accepted materials which must all be PVC + BPA free, post-consumer recycled paper or biodegradable options for all labeling and packaging materials.

How does a collection qualify for GOTS?

Textile products carrying the GOTS label grade ‘organic’ must contain a minimum of 95% certified organic fibres and a product with the label grade ‘made with organic’ must contain a minimum of 70% certified organic fibres. Both can be certified GOTS but have their own labeling: either “organic” or “made with organic”. At MetaWear, we help support with GOTS certifications, allowing you to include the seal on your end products.

How does a collection quality for Fair Trade?

Fair Trade certification is a 3rd party certification that is available through a premium on the product. The premium helps to contribute directly to programs granting equal pay for farmers and workers Other initiatives within Fair Trade promote education and lead to economic development in cooperatives, with some cooperatives financing health care, schools, and infrastructure, as well as diversification into other crops and into subsistence agriculture. MetaWear’s fair trade certification is available for organic knit, bed and bath, and soft good accessory categories.

How does a collection qualify for C2C?

MetaWear’s supply chain network has factories who are C2C certified and can facilitate programs interested in having this label as part of their program. To receive certification, products are assessed for environmental and social performance across five critical sustainability categories: material health, material reuse, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness. Please inquire to learn more about including C2C products in your style assortment. With a circular model approach there are limitations to what products can qualify for the certification.

How can my brand get involved in your regenerative organic cotton farm project?

Our regenerative-in-conversion to organic farm project, RESET, involves a 3-year conversion period, training farmers on the methods to successfully bridge out of conventional farming practices and into organic through regenerative organic farming solutions. After the 3 year period, the farms are awarded their NOP certification. To ensure we are fully supporting the farmers on this journey, we bring on MetaWear partners for this program who are willing to make annual commitments that directly contribute to the resources necessary to help farmers in this process. Individual farmers are allocated specifically to ourbrands involved. Together, we are transforming agriculture through the power of fashion.
